Environment Africa,a non-profit group,is helping to address the issue of deforestationcaused by the removal of trees and land clearing through the use of fire in easternZimbabwe.According to officials,more than 1.5 million hectares of forest were lost in 2016due to local communities cutting down trees for firewood or setting fires in forested areas.To deal with this issue,Environment Africa is teaching farmers to raise bees in theMutasa district,near the country's border with Mozambique.The group has already helped

Lawrence Nyagwande,who works with Environment Africa,notes that beekeeping ishelping to improve the country's forests.Farmers are earning up to $1,000 a month fromselling honey,which is double the average salary of a government worker.Nyagwande addsthat the communities are cooperating with timber(木材)industries to fight forest fires,and

plantations have allowed farmers to put their hives in their land to help prevent fires.
